Professional Philosophy

Unfortunately, almost 80% of the population will experience foot pain at some time during their lives. At the A Step Ahead Foot & Ankle Centers, we believe no one should have to live with painful feet. As podiatrists (doctors who care for feet as a specialty, not a sideline), we are trained and equipped to diagnose and treat problems involving the foot, ankle and lower leg.

Why So Much Foot Trouble?

The average person takes approximately 10,000 steps each day on every conceivable type of surface and incline. This level of wear and tear can lead to mal-alignment of the bones and joints of the feet. The discomfort associated with these mal-alignments is responsible for to 80- 90% of the foot ailments we see and treat in our office. Our major goal as podiatrists is to keep our patients feet healthy and in good condition. Our methods include recommendations for proper shoe selection, advice on effective home care, fitting orthopedic devices, gait and shoe balancing, and measuring and fitting of orthotics and arch supports. All of these are designed to compensate for weaknesses due to malformation and injuries.

Surgery - Always A Last Resort!

One of the primary goals of the doctors and staff at the A Step Ahead Foot & Ankle Centers is to relieve our patients pain as much as possible, and as soon as possible, so they can return to their normal activities.

For the 10-20% of patients with conditions that fail to respond to conservative care, surgical intervention may be necessary. In our office, though, surgery is recommended and performed only if conservative treatment is inadequate.

Through a thorough health history and examination, we determine what level of care is needed to give our patients the healthiest, most comfortable feet possible - for life!
