Southgate Animal Clinic has served the community since the 1930's when it provided veterinarian care primarily to the dairy farms and agricultural businesses that once thrived in the Southgate area outside of Portland. As time passed and the dairy farms and other agricultural businesses gradually gave way to suburban development, our clientelle shifted to a mix of small and large animal care. By the 1980's, our practice had transitioned completely to small animal care. To keep up with the ever-encroaching urban growth, we increased our staff accordingly and eventually outgrew our original clinic building.

In the mid-1990's, a new, state-of-the-art, 5,000 sq. ft. facility was designed to our specifications. Construction began in the fall of 1997 and we moved in on Valentine's Day 1998. The practice is owned by Dr. Kristen Shaw, who is joined by Dr. Stephanie Ricker, Dr. Tammy Stemper, Dr. Ilona Edens and a gifted technical and support staff.
